That was no ordinary piece of scrap metal arriving in Hampton Bays on the back of a flatbed truck on Thursday, February 11. It was the nearly 7,000-pound anchor from the Circassian, a British-built ship that broke up after running aground at Mecox during a storm on December 10, 1876.
