Gordon’s background and experience includes a number of various demanding positions with multiple responsibilities. He received a B.S. in Engineering and a Master of Business Administration degrees from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. He moved to New York nearly 40 years ago and has worked as a professional in government, marketing, sales, public relations and fundraising.
For eleven years, he served as the CEO of Ashcor New York, a provider of high technology environmental support systems. Subsequently he founded and was the CEO of WorldWired Global Systems, an entrepreneurial telecommunications company. He was also a founder and Executive Director of the South African Chamber of Commerce America, a not-for-profit dedicated to the promotion of business, trade, tourism and investment between South Africa and the Americas.
For almost 10 years he has worked at the Suffolk County Board of Elections, staging, testing and preparing the voting systems before each election. He is involved in all aspects of election verification, including comparing paper-tape and memory-card records, legal verification of post-election results and re-canvassing of the voting systems.
Gordon has been the Chair of the Southampton Town Democratic Committee since 2006. He has reinvigorated and rebuilt the Southampton Democratic Party which, by 2008, had become one of the most successful Democratic committees in Suffolk County. Achievements have included the election of a Democratic majority on the Town Board, record-breaking fundraising and increasing voter registration to the point where the Democrats now have the most registered voters of any party in the Town.
His work experience has always involved achieving a successful balance among various disparate responsibilities, as shown above. He has always been able to do this and will continue to do so.
