In these very dark days, let’s remember who we are, what we stand for and what we as Democrats have achieved. We are the Party and the People who have fought for human rights, workers rights and immigrants rights!
This is what we did:
- Got women the right to vote
- Got African-Americans the right to vote
- We created Social Security and lifted millions of elderly people out of poverty
- We ended segregation
- We passed the Civil Rights Act
- We passed the Voting Rights Act
- We created Medicare
- We created Medicaid
- We established the Department of Education
- We passed the Fair Housing Act
- We passed the Clean Air Act
- We passed the Clean Water Act
- We passed the Affordable Care Act
- We passed the American Rescue Plan
- We passed the Infrastructure Law
- We passed the Inflation Reduction Act
- We passed the CHIPS and Science Act
- We passed multiple acts Supporting American Workers and Labor. In fact, unions were legalized by the Wagner Act (NYS Senator Wagner) and signed by FDR.
- Democratic Presidents FDR, Truman, Carter, Johnson, Obama, Biden and others, were responsible for a multitude of many other important acts – look them up!
What did Republicans do? They opposed just about every one of these laws!
On the other hand, we continue to support our workers – ALL of them, immigrants included – unless you are Native American, we are all immigrants. So, THANK YOU to everyone who teaches our children, keeps us safe, grows the food that we eat, our first responders, healthcare workers, tradespeople, truck drivers, farmers and farm workers, everyone (including YOU), who builds, sustains and maintains our communities!
Let’s work to build and rebuild our Party and our nation and move through this darkness, together.
